The UltraBlock USB 3.0 Forensic Card Reader is switchable from Read-Only to Read-Write operation. In Read-Only mode the unit can be used for forensic acquisition of information found on multimedia and memory cards. In Read-Write mode the unit is able to write to memory cards for testing or validation. This card reader is the same unit integrated into our FRED systems and are exclusively available from Digital Intelligence.

The UltraBlock USB 3.0 Forensic Card Readers are NOT off-the-shelf readers with unknown forensic implications. Plus, these card readers are SDHC and SDXC compatible.

Devices which store data on memory or multimedia cards include Digital Cameras, MP3 Players, VoiceRecorders, PDA’s, Cell Phones, Computers, and other digital storage devices. Using an integrated USB 3.0 cable, the Forensic Card Readers can be connected directly to a USB 3.0, 2.0 or 1.x port on your workstation or laptop.

The Forensic Card Reader can be used to read (and optionally write) to the following multimedia card formats:

The UltraBlock USB 3.0 FCR can work either as a write blocker (Read-Only mode) or as a writable device. This function is set by a switch on the front of the unit.

Note: In order to change the functionality, the device must be disconnected and reconnected to the computer. Changing the switch while the UltraBlock 3.0 FCR is connected to a powered-up computer WILL NOT change its operating state.

When the reader is in Read-Only mode the red R/O LED will be illuminated. The green LED is the power indicator.
